Oslofjordens Friluftsråd is a regional organization in Norway that focuses on outdoor recreation and the promotion of outdoor activities in the Oslofjord region. Oslofjordens Friluftsråd, a leading cabin booking company in Norway, approached Brain Station 23 (BS23) with aspirations to enhance their existing WordPress to expand their property renting business, they sought a robust solution to mitigate issues like double site. Facing scalability challenges and desiring bookings and accommodate their growing user base.

BS23 provided comprehensive DevOps support, infrastructure planning, and application development to address Oslofjordens Friluftsråd’s challenges. The solution incorporated Elastic Cache Redis to prevent double bookings, employing a microservices architecture deployed in Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service). The services included Booking, Cabin, Identity Management, Admin, Activity, Notification, and Payment services.

Operational Excellence

BS23 deployed robust solution with operational excellence, enabling 50,000 users’ simultaneously accessing during peak hours. This scalability was vital for supporting Oslofjordens Friluftsråd’s growing user base.

The solution leveraged a spectrum of AWS services, including Route53, CloudFront, S3, EKS, EC2, RDS SQL, RDS MySQL, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, ECR (Elastic Container Registry), and EFS (Elastic File System).

The collaborative effort between Oslofjordens Friluftsråd and BS23 yielded significant results. The transition to microservices architecture, combined with the implementation of Elastic Cache Redis, not only resolved double booking issues but also provided a scalable foundation for future business growth.
